Group of sages/assembly (headed by Mārkaṇḍeya, addressing Saṃvarta)
Listener: Saṃvarta Mahāmuni
Scene: A group of afflicted sages/prostrating seekers address Saṃvarta with folded hands, expressing that they are fallen by a curse and begging for the remedy leading to liberation.
Liberation and relief from suffering arise through humility, surrender, and the compassionate guidance of realized sages.
Not named in this verse; the request anticipates a tīrtha-based remedy in the next verse.
The verse asks for a pratīkāra (remedy/atonement) but does not specify the act yet.
