tasmāddveṣo na kartavyo viśveśe paramātmani | viśveśa dveṣiṇāṃ puṃsāṃ prāyaścittaṃ yato nahi
Skanda (deduced Kāśīkhaṇḍa dialogue style: Skanda to Agastya)
Tirtha: Viśveśvara-kṣetra (Kāśī)
Type: kshetra
Scene: Inside the sanctum precincts, Viśveśvara’s liṅga radiates calm; a figure representing ‘dveṣa’ recoils and cannot cross the threshold; devotees with folded hands embody surrender; the mood is solemn—warning and refuge together.
Hatred toward the Lord identified as Paramātman is a grave fault; devotion and reverence are upheld as the safe path.
Viśveśvara (Kāśī Viśvanātha) is invoked—central to Kāśī’s sacred identity—though a particular tīrtha-kunda is not named.
A negative injunction: do not commit dveṣa (hatred) toward Viśveśvara; it is said to be beyond prāyaścitta.
