اسے پڑھنے یا سننے سے اس کا پھل اس سے بھی بڑھ جاتا ہے۔ یہاں بارہ برس کے سَتر یَجْی کے برابر ثواب حاصل ہوتا ہے۔
Mārkaṇḍeya
Tirtha: Revā/Narmadā
Type: kshetra
Scene: A sage recites the Revā-māhātmya to attentive devotees on a Narmadā riverbank; in the background, a symbolic śrauta satra-yajña fire-altar appears as a faint vision, indicating ‘yajña-tulya’ merit through hearing.
Purāṇic devotion (reading/hearing) can confer immense merit, equated with long and demanding Vedic sacrificial undertakings.
The Narmadā-centered teaching is being glorified; the ‘here’ refers to the fruit of Narmadā-carita within Revā Khaṇḍa.
Paṭha (recitation/reading) and śravaṇa (hearing) of the sacred account are promoted; a comparison is made to satra-yajña merit.
