brahmahatyā surāpānaṃ steyaṃ gurvaṅganāgamaḥ | ebhistu saha saṃyogo viśvastānāṃ ca vañcanam
Skanda (deduced for Revākhaṇḍa narrative style)
Scene: A didactic scene: a sage enumerates grave sins; shadowy vignettes depict the four mahāpātakas and a fifth vignette shows a person betraying a trusting figure; the pilgrim listens with sober restraint.
Dharma is anchored in non-harm, purity, honesty, and fidelity; betrayal and grave sins destroy spiritual standing.
The verse serves as a lead-in to the tīrtha’s purifying power described in the surrounding passage of Revā-kṣetra.
No direct rite here; it enumerates major sins that the subsequent tīrtha-merit is said to destroy.
