Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya (to a king, nṛpaśreṣṭha)
Tirtha: Dhūmāvarta/Jvālāsamudbhava-kuṇḍa tīrtha
Type: kshetra
Listener: King (nṛpa)
Scene: Pilgrims and ritualists gather at the potent kuṇḍa/āvarta: some perform śānti and pūjā, others undertake kāmya vows for progeny or victory; the tīrtha is depicted as radiating unseen force that ‘speeds’ outcomes.
A consecrated tīrtha amplifies intention and effort; therefore one should align desires with Dharma when seeking results.
The Dhūmāvarta-associated tīrtha on the Narmadā described in this adhyāya.
It broadly states that rites done here attain siddhi quickly; it does not mandate a single rite in this verse.
