Upamanyu
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Sthala Purana: Not a specific kṣetra legend; it is a normative rule: choose an auspicious day in śukla-pakṣa and construct a properly proportioned liṅga per Śiva-śāstra.
Significance: Teaches that sacred space is ‘made’ through correct time (śukla-pakṣa), correct measure (pramāṇa), and correct śāstric method—turning any place into a Śiva-kṣetra through sanctioned consecration.
Role: creative
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that Śiva-worship is not arbitrary: outer ritual must align with inner auspiciousness and scriptural discipline, so the devotee’s mind becomes fit for Śiva’s grace and liberation-oriented devotion.
The liṅga is a saguna support for worship that points to Śiva’s supreme reality; making it with correct measure and according to Śaiva injunctions emphasizes reverence, order, and the sanctity of the icon as a doorway to contemplation of the formless Lord.
Choose an auspicious time (bright fortnight, favorable day) and perform liṅga-construction/worship strictly by Śiva-śāstra procedure, treating proportional correctness (pramāṇa) as part of disciplined sādhanā.
