Bharata in Kaikeyi’s apartments: revelation of Daśaratha’s death and Rāma’s exile
अथास्य चपला माता तत्स्वकर्म यथातथम्।
तेनैव स्त्रीस्वभावेन व्याहर्तुमुपचक्रमे।।2.72.46।।
athāsya capalā mātā tat svakarma yathātatham | tenaiva strīsvabhāvena vyāhartum upacakrame || 2.72.46 ||
پھر اس کی چنچل ماں، اسی عورتانہ مزاج کے زیرِ اثر، اپنے کیے ہوئے کاموں کو جیسے کے تیسا بیان کرنے لگی۔
On hearing the words of great Bharata, that foolish woman Kaikeyi thinking herself to be wise, cheerfully said:
Moral responsibility begins with truthfully stating one’s actions; the verse introduces the disclosure that will be judged against dharma.
After Bharata’s questioning, Kaikeyī starts explaining what she did regarding the succession and exile.
Not virtue but characterization: Kaikeyī is described as unstable, setting a moral contrast with Bharata’s dharmic clarity.
