Proposal for Rāma’s Installation as Heir-Apparent
बलमारोग्यमायुश्च रामस्य विदितात्मनः।
देवासुरमनुष्येषु सगन्धर्वोरगेषु च।।2.2.50।।
आशंसते जनस्सर्वो राष्ट्रे पुरवरे तथा।
आभ्यन्तरश्च बाह्यश्च पौरजानपदो जनः।।2.2.51।।
vatsaḥ śreyasi jātas te diṣṭyā ’sau tava rāghava | diṣṭyā putraguṇair yukto mārīca iva kāśyapaḥ || 2.2.49 ||
اے راغھو! بھلائی کے لیے، قسمت کی مہربانی سے، یہ بیٹا تمہیں عطا ہوا؛ اور خوش بختی سے وہ اُن اوصاف سے آراستہ ہے جو ایک مثالی فرزند میں ہونے چاہئیں—جیسے کاشیپ کے بیٹے ماریچ میں تھے۔
Gandharvas, uragas, devas, asuras, the inhabitants of towns and villages, all men living in neighbouring or distant regions are wish the illustrious Rama strength, health and long life.
Putra-dharma: the ideal son embodies virtues that support family and kingdom welfare; his birth is framed as a boon oriented toward śreyas (true good).
Rama is praised in terms of exemplary sonhood and auspicious destiny, reinforcing the legitimacy of his succession.
Putraguṇa—obedience, integrity, and welfare-oriented conduct expected of a royal heir.
