FAQs

They are described as sāgnika (maintainers of sacred fire), pitṛbhakta (devoted to ancestors), and priyaṃkara to Vaiṣṇavas (pleasing/dear to devotees of Viṣṇu), presenting them as dharmic and respectful emissaries.

Dvijottama means “best of the twice-born,” i.e., an exemplary brāhmaṇa (learned and spiritually eminent), to whom the messengers present their request.

Public duty and diplomacy are framed as grounded in dharma—respect for Vedic rites (fire), gratitude to ancestors, and reverence toward Vaiṣṇava piety—before approaching a learned spiritual authority.
