Cyavana Narrative within the Vena Episode
दैत्यांतकं दुःखविनाशमूलं शांतं परं शक्तिमयं विशालम् । यं प्राप्य देवा विनयं प्रयांति तं वासुदेवं शरणं प्रपद्ये
daityāṃtakaṃ duḥkhavināśamūlaṃ śāṃtaṃ paraṃ śaktimayaṃ viśālam | yaṃ prāpya devā vinayaṃ prayāṃti taṃ vāsudevaṃ śaraṇaṃ prapadye
Unspecified (a devotee/narrative voice offering a śaraṇāgati-stuti to Vāsudeva)
Concept: Śaraṇāgati to Vāsudeva is the root-cure for duḥkha; even devas become humble upon attaining Him.
Application: When fear or grief rises, consciously ‘take refuge’ through nāma-japa, surrender of outcomes, and ethical restraint; cultivate humility even in success.

“Vāsudeva” is a principal name of Viṣṇu (and also of Kṛṣṇa as Viṣṇu’s full manifestation), praised here as the supreme refuge and the destroyer of demonic forces and sorrow.
It models śaraṇāgati (surrender): the speaker explicitly seeks refuge (śaraṇaṃ prapadye) in Vāsudeva, presenting devotion not merely as praise but as a transformative act of reliance on the Divine.
The line suggests that true greatness culminates in humility before the Supreme; even exalted beings relinquish pride upon encountering Vāsudeva’s transcendence, making humility a hallmark of spiritual maturity.
