FAQs

It frames a sacred-cosmological teaching: the text treats even natural features like the ocean’s salinity as purposeful outcomes within dharmic creation, and links them to a broader understanding of the worlds’ structure.

Indirectly, it supports bhakti by encouraging attentive listening (śṛṇu) to Purāṇic instruction—hearing sacred narration is a classic bhakti practice (śravaṇa) that deepens reverence for the divinely ordered cosmos.

The verse points to Purāṇic cosmography and measurement (mātrā) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; practically, it reflects the tradition of precise descriptive frameworks used alongside Jyotiṣa-style cosmological thinking.
