Puruṣottama-māhātmya
The Greatness of Puruṣottama Kṣetra
papracchedaṃ mahāpraśnaṃ bhūmau sthānamanuttamam | śrīruvāca | brūhi tvaṃ sarvalokeśa saṃśayaṃ me hṛdi sthitam || 59 ||
Śrī (Lakṣmī)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames a tīrtha-māhātmya inquiry: Śrī seeks clarity about the unsurpassed sacred locus on earth, indicating that holy places are not merely geographic but vehicles for removing inner doubt and establishing dharmic certainty.
By approaching the “Lord of all worlds” with humility and a desire for guidance, the verse models bhakti as sincere questioning (praśna), reliance on the Lord’s instruction, and the wish to resolve heartfelt uncertainty through divine revelation.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught directly in this verse; it functions as a narrative prompt that typically precedes practical guidance on tīrtha-related dharma and observances in the surrounding section.
