The Discourse of Rukmāṅgada
Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma
vrate pravṛtte varakṛcchrasaṃjñe priyākṛte harṣamavāpa rājā | uvāca vākyaṃ kuśaketuputrīṃ kṛtaṃ vacaḥ subhru samīhitaṃ te || 22 ||
Narrator (Purāṇic narration; dialogue attribution: the King speaking to Kuśaketu’s daughter)
Vrata: Varakṛcchra
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: hasya
It highlights vrata as a dharmic instrument that brings inner resolve to completion—when the disciplined observance begins, auspicious outcomes and reassurance (fulfillment of a sincere intention) follow.
Though not explicitly naming a deity here, the verse reflects a common Purāṇic bhakti framework: sincere intention supported by disciplined observance (vrata) leads to grace-like fulfillment, reinforcing faith and commitment.
Ritual discipline is foregrounded: the verse points to structured vrata-pravṛtti (formal commencement of an observance), which in practice aligns with Kalpa-style procedural tradition (rules of vows and rites).
