गङ्गामाहात्म्य — The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
त्वत्पौत्रेण समानीता गङ्गा पुण्यजला नदी । कृत्वैतान्धूतपापान्वै नयिष्यति परं पदम् ॥ १३१ ॥
tvatpautreṇa samānītā gaṅgā puṇyajalā nadī | kṛtvaitāndhūtapāpānvai nayiṣyati paraṃ padam || 131 ||
تیرے پوتے کے لائی ہوئی گنگا—یہ پُنّیہ جل والی ندی—ان کے گناہ دھو کر یقیناً انہیں پرم پد تک پہنچا دے گی۔
Sanatkumara (addressing Narada in the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents Gaṅgā as a liberating tīrtha: her sacred waters cleanse accumulated sin and become a cause for attaining the supreme goal, especially for forefathers needing upliftment.
While centered on tīrtha-mahātmyā, the verse supports bhakti by showing divine grace operating through sacred means—approaching Gaṅgā with faith and reverence is implied as a spiritually transformative act.
Ritual application is implied rather than technical Vedanga: it points to Pitr-related rites and tīrtha practice (e.g., snāna, tarpaṇa) where sacred water is used for purification and ancestral benefit.
