एवं निवारयंतं तं बहुशो ज्येष्टसोदरम् । हनिष्यामीति निश्चित्य खङ्गहस्तः कचेऽग्रहीत् ॥ ८ ॥
evaṃ nivārayaṃtaṃ taṃ bahuśo jyeṣṭasodaram | haniṣyāmīti niścitya khaṅgahastaḥ kace'grahīt || 8 ||

It highlights how unchecked anger (krodha) and violent resolve (hiṃsā-buddhi) can overpower even the presence of wise restraint, warning that adharma begins the moment one fixes the mind on harm.
By contrast: bhakti requires inner mastery—especially control of anger and cruelty—because a mind driven by hatred cannot remain steady in remembrance of Bhagavan or in compassionate dharma.
The verse is primarily ethical-narrative rather than technical; it indirectly reflects the dharmic discipline emphasized alongside Vedanga studies—self-control and right intention as prerequisites for sacred learning.
