trirātropoṣito dadyāt phālgunyāṃ bhavanaṃ śubham ādityalokamāpnoti dhāmavratamidaṃ smṛtam //
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it teaches a merit-producing vow (dhāma-vrata) centered on fasting and charitable gifting, promising attainment of Āditya’s realm.
It frames an ideal householder’s (and ruler’s) dharma as disciplined self-restraint (three-night fast) followed by high-value charity (gifting a dwelling), portraying social welfare and dāna as spiritually elevating.
Ritually, it prescribes trirātra-upoṣa (three-night fasting) and specifies timing (Phālguna). Architecturally, it highlights bhavana-dāna—donating a proper dwelling—as a meritorious act, implying the religious value of well-made, auspicious housing.
