Adhyaya 27Madālasa’s Instruction to King Alarka: Royal Ethics, Self-Conquest, and Statecraft

प्रागात्मा मन्त्रिणश्चैव ततो भृत्या महीभृता ।

जेयाश्चानन्तरं पौराः विरुध्येत ततोऽरिभिः ॥

prāg ātmā mantriṇaś caiva tato bhṛtyā mahībhṛtā /

jeyāś cānantaraṃ paurā virudhyeta tato 'ribhiḥ

سب سے پہلے بادشاہ کو اپنے نفس پر فتح پانا چاہیے، پھر وزیروں پر، پھر خادموں پر۔ اس کے بعد شہریوں کو درست نظم میں لائے؛ تب ہی دشمنوں کے مقابل کھڑا ہو۔
