काञ्चनेन तु पात्रेण राजतौदुम्बरेण वा / दत्तमक्षयतां याति खड्गेन च विशेषतः
kāñcanena tu pātreṇa rājataudumbareṇa vā / dattamakṣayatāṃ yāti khaḍgena ca viśeṣataḥ
Sūta (narrating the Kurma Purāṇa’s teaching on dāna to the sages, in a dharma-instruction context)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Indirectly: it stresses akṣayatā (inexhaustible fruit) through dharmic giving, implying that sustained spiritual welfare arises from aligning action (karma) with dharma—an outer support that, in the Kurma Purāṇa’s synthesis, prepares the mind for knowledge of the Self.
No direct yogic technique is taught in this verse; it frames dāna as a dharma-practice that purifies intention (saṅkalpa) and supports later disciplines emphasized elsewhere in the text (including Pāśupata-oriented self-restraint and devotion).
It does so implicitly through the Kurma Purāṇa’s integrated dharma framework: meritorious giving is upheld as a shared foundation across Shaiva-Vaishnava paths, supporting both devotion and liberation-oriented practice without sectarian conflict.
