The Genealogy of the Pitṛs and the Determination of Śrāddha Times

FAQs

It reflects a Purāṇic synthesis of ethical and procedural norms for dāna, aligning inner disposition (citta-śuddhi) with outward correctness (kāla, vidhi, pātra), a theme also emphasized across Dharmaśāstra-adjacent literature.

No geographic location is named in this verse; it is framed as a general ethical-ritual principle rather than a site-specific māhātmya passage.

Effective giving and related religious-ethical acts require purity of intention and resources, appropriate timing, correct procedure, a worthy recipient, and a focused attitude of devotion; these conditions are said to conduce to the intended outcomes.
