Mantra Efficacy, Removal of Obstacles, and the Role of Faith/Discipline
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Generalized fruit of Śiva-pūjā: social honor, prosperity (Kubera-like), attractiveness, and renewed vigor are presented as transformations arising from devotion and merit.
Significance: General: motivates householders—Śiva-worship is said to uplift status and wellbeing, while implicitly pointing beyond them to higher siddhi.
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It teaches Śiva’s anugraha (grace): devotion does not merely add external benefits, it transforms the devotee’s inner condition—miserliness, lack, and decline are purified as the soul turns toward Pati (Śiva), loosening the pāśas (bondages).
The verse reflects the Purāṇic assurance that Saguna-Śiva worship—especially Liṅga-pūjā done with faith—draws Śiva’s auspicious power (śivatva) into life, producing visible uplift while also preparing the mind for higher realization.
Regular Śiva-pūjā with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) is implied; performed with charity and non-miserliness, it counters ‘kṛpaṇatā’ and aligns the devotee with Śiva’s grace.
