Paśu–Pāśa–Paśupati
पुरा किल सुराः सेंद्रा विवदंतः परस्परम् । असुरान्समरे जित्वा जेताहमहमित्युत
purā kila surāḥ seṃdrā vivadaṃtaḥ parasparam | asurānsamare jitvā jetāhamahamityuta
Noong unang panahon, ang mga diyos—kasama si Indra—ay nagsimulang magtalo-talo sa isa't isa. Matapos talunin ang mga asura sa labanan, ang bawat isa ay nagpahayag, "Ako lamang ang nagwagi!"

It exposes how ahamkāra (ego) can arise even after righteous success, showing that without recognizing Pati (Lord Shiva) as the true source of power, merit turns into pride and becomes a new bond (pāśa).
The devas’ quarrel implies the need to turn from self-claim to devotion; in Shaiva practice, worship of the Liṅga (Saguna Shiva) trains the mind toward humility and surrender, acknowledging Shiva as the inner ruler beyond all celestial ranks.
Cultivate humility through japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a resolve to offer all results to Shiva; mentally renounce the thought “I am the doer” during worship and meditation.
