इन्द्रजित्–लक्ष्मणयोर् घोरः शरयुद्धः
Indrajit and Lakshmana’s Fierce Exchange of Arrows
सबभूवरणेघोरस्तयोर्बाणमयश्चयः ।।6.89.35।।अग्निभ्यामिवदीप्ताभ्यांसत्रेकुशमयश्चयः ।
sa babhūva raṇe ghoras tayor bāṇamayaś cayaḥ |
agnibhyām iva dīptābhyāṃs (t)re kuśamayaś cayaḥ || 6.89.35 ||
Sa digmaan, sa pagitan nilang dalawa ay nabuo ang kakila-kilabot na bunton at pagkalat ng mga palaso—sa paningin ay wari’y tumpok ng damong kuśa na nagliliwanag sa dalawang naglalagablab na apoy sa pook ng yajña.
In the battle the terrific arrows appeared to the eyes like kusa grass spread by the sacred fire.
The sacrificial imagery suggests that even warfare is judged against sacred order: dharma demands that force be framed by higher purpose and moral restraint, not by hatred.
The volley of arrows becomes so thick that it forms a terrifying ‘mass’ in the field of vision, compared to ritual kuśa illuminated by fire.
