कुम्भकर्णोपदेशः
Kumbhakarna’s Counsel and War-Boast to Ravana
अवश्यंतुहितंवाच्यंसर्वावस्थांतवमया ।बन्धुभावादभिहितंभ्रातृस्नेहाच्छपार्थिव ।।6.63.33।।
avaśyaṃ tu hitaṃ vācyaṃ sarvāvasthāṃ tava mayā |
bandhubhāvād abhihitaṃ bhrātṛsnehāc ca pārthiva || 6.63.33 ||
Gayunman, sa bawat kalagayan ay dapat kong sabihin sa iyo ang makabubuti, O hari—sapagkat ito’y wika ng isang kamag-anak, mula sa pag-ibig ng kapatid.
"While I am (my body is) with life you need not entertain despondency. I will exterminate him, by whose account you are agitated."
Speaking beneficial truth (hita + satya) is a duty—especially for relatives and advisors—regardless of the listener’s mood or the situation.
Kumbhakarṇa frames his forthcoming words as necessary counsel offered out of kinship and affection.
Responsible speech—prioritizing what is beneficial over what is merely pleasing.
