The Awakening and Commissioning of Kumbhakarna
स तत्तदासूर्यइवाभ्रजालंप्रविश्यरक्षोधिपतेर्निवेशम् ।ददर्शदूरेऽग्रजमासनस्थंस्वयम्भुवंशक्रवासनस्थम् ।।6.62.4।।
sa tattadā sūrya ivābhrajālaṁ praviśya rakṣodhipater niveśam |
dadarśa dūre ’grajam āsanasthaṁ svayambhuvaṁ śakra-vāsanastham ||6.62.4||
Pagkatapos, sa pagpasok sa tahanan ng panginoon ng mga Rakshasa tulad ng araw na tumatagos sa kumpol ng mga ulap, nakita niya mula sa malayo ang kaniyang nakatatandang kapatid na nakaupo sa trono—tulad ni Indra na minamasdan ang Nakaupong Brahma.
"O Bull among Rakshasas! Being my brother, do this for me. I always have affection for you. Considering that you have encountered war with Devas and Asuras and won both Devas and Asuras, do this help."
Dharma is indirectly highlighted through contrast: even a throne likened to divine majesty does not confer righteousness; moral authority depends on just action.
Kumbhakarṇa enters the palace and sees Rāvaṇa seated in state, described with lofty divine comparisons.
The verse emphasizes status and awe rather than virtue; it sets the stage for a duty-bound response from Kumbhakarṇa as a brother and warrior.
