Coronation Preparations and the Fast Enjoined
tato yathāvad rāmeṇa sa rājño gurur arcitaḥ |
abhyanujñāpya kākutsthaṃ yayau rāma-niveśanāt ||
Thereafter, Vasistha, preceptor of the king duly honoured by the descendant of Kakutstha (Rama) left his abode.
Respect for the guru and proper leave-taking are part of maryādā and dharma—social ethics that sustain righteous order.
After arranging the preparatory observances, Vasiṣṭha is honored by Rāma and then departs from Rāma’s home.
Rāma’s humility and reverence toward his teacher, shown through due honor and formal permission-taking.
