सरयूर्गंडकी सिंधुश्चंद्रभागा च कौशिकी । तापी गोदावरी भीमा पयोष्णी कृष्णवेणिका ॥ २९ ॥
sarayūrgaṃḍakī siṃdhuścaṃdrabhāgā ca kauśikī | tāpī godāvarī bhīmā payoṣṇī kṛṣṇaveṇikā || 29 ||
Ang Sarayū, ang Gaṇḍakī, ang Sindhu, ang Candrabhāgā at ang Kauśikī; gayundin ang Tāpī, ang Godāvarī, ang Bhīmā, ang Payoṣṇī at ang Kṛṣṇaveṇikā—ito ang mga banal na ilog.

This verse functions as a tirtha-catalog: it names revered rivers whose contact (especially through snāna, ācamana, and pilgrimage) is traditionally said to generate puṇya and support dharma-oriented living.
While it is not a direct bhakti instruction, the verse supports bhakti indirectly by situating devotion within sacred geography—visiting and honoring these rivers is a form of tirtha-sevā often performed alongside Vishnu-nāma, pūjā, and vrata observances.
The practical takeaway is kalpa-oriented tirtha practice: identifying sanctioned waters for snāna and pilgrimage. It also reflects nirukta-style preservation of traditional river names used in ritual manuals.
