Puruṣottama-māhātmya
The Greatness of Puruṣottama Kṣetra
Narada (narrative voice within Uttara-Bhaga tirtha descriptions; traditional dialogue frame with Sanatkumara lineage implied)
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"bhakti","emotional_journey":"A calm, declarative glorification of Bhārata as karma-bhūmi, ending with a quiet localization at the southern ocean shore."}
It identifies Bhārata-varṣa as karmabhūmi—the unique sacred arena where dharma, vrata, dāna, and pilgrimage can be consciously performed to yield spiritual ascent; it also situates a holy presence connected with the southern seacoast, aligning the chapter with tirtha-mahātmya (sacred place glorification).
By calling Bhārata-varṣa the karmabhūmi, the verse implies that embodied practice—especially pūjā, vrata, and tīrtha-yātrā—supports bhakti in a concrete way; devotion in the Purāṇic sense is strengthened through place-based worship and disciplined action.
The verse mainly reflects Purāṇic sacred geography rather than a specific Vedāṅga; practically, it supports dharma-śāstra style orientation for tīrtha-yātrā (pilgrimage planning) by locating sanctity in Bhārata-varṣa and indicating a southern coastal tirtha setting.
