Vasu
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It formally introduces the Puruṣottama-kṣetra māhātmya, framing the pilgrimage site’s sanctity as an authoritative revelation traced to Brahmā, which signals exceptional spiritual merit for hearing and following the account.
By centering the “supreme glory” of Puruṣottama (a primary epithet of Viṣṇu), the verse sets a bhakti-oriented context where listening (śravaṇa) to the kṣetra’s māhātmya becomes a devotional act that deepens reverence for the Lord.
The verse emphasizes śravaṇa and pravacana (listening and exposition) as disciplines of correct transmission; while not a technical Vedāṅga lesson, it reflects the Purāṇic method of authorized teaching (brahmaṇoditam) foundational to dharma instruction.
