Ang marunong na tao, na may putong at pang-itaas na kasuotan, ay nararapat mag-ayuno araw at gabi sa madilim na araw ng buwan na tinatawag na Kṛṣṇā-bhūtā—maging sa pook ng pagsusunog ng bangkay, sa gubat, o sa isang templong walang tao.
