Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada within the technical/ritual science context of Book 1.3)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: raudra
It highlights the Narada Purana’s technical, practice-oriented layer (Book 1.3), where correct ritual materials (dravya) are treated as essential for precise outcomes, while also giving a practical fallback—sesame oil—when ideal items are unavailable.
This verse is primarily procedural rather than devotional; indirectly, it shows that Narada Purana integrates worldly/ritual know-how alongside higher teachings, implying that disciplined practice should ultimately remain subordinate to dharma and devotion-centered living.
It reflects applied ritual science (prayoga) and dravya-nirṇaya (selection of substances), a technical domain associated with Vedāṅga-linked disciplines used in rites—specifically, choosing appropriate oils and a standard substitute (tila-taila).
