आत्मानं घातयेद्यस्तु रज्ज्वादिभिरुपक्रमैः । मृते मेध्येन लेत्पव्यो जीवतो द्विशतं दमः ॥ १९ ॥
ātmānaṃ ghātayedyastu rajjvādibhirupakramaiḥ | mṛte medhyena letpavyo jīvato dviśataṃ damaḥ || 19 ||
Ngunit ang sinumang pumatay sa sarili gamit ang lubid at mga katulad na paraan—kung namatay na, ang bangkay ay dapat asikasuhin sa pamamagitan ng pagpapahid ng panlinis na sangkap; kung buhay pa, pagmultahin ng dalawang daan (paṇa/dama).
