Suta Goswami (narrating the Linga Purana account to the sages at Naimisharanya)
It highlights Śiva as Pati (Lord) who responds to tapas with anugraha (grace), a core principle behind Linga-pūjā: disciplined worship and inner heat (tapas) draw the Lord’s blessings into embodied life.
Śiva-tattva is shown as compassionate sovereignty—Rudra is independent and fulfilled, yet becomes “satisfied” by the devotee’s tapas and freely bestows boons, demonstrating the Lord’s role as liberator and benefactor beyond karmic limitation.
Tapas (austerity/discipline) is central—aligned with Pāśupata-oriented sādhanā where restraint, devotion, and concentrated practice purify the pashu (bound soul) and invite Pati’s grace to loosen pasha (bondage).
