प्रोक्तमाश्वसनं सामभेदो ऽश्वेन नियोज्यते कषादिताड्नं दण्डो दानं कालसहिष्णुता

proktamāśvasanaṃ sāmabhedo 'śvena niyojyate kaṣāditāḍnaṃ daṇḍo dānaṃ kālasahiṣṇutā

Ang pakikipagkasundo (sāma) ang ipinahayag na unang hakbang. Ang panghihikayat at paghahati (sāma at bheda) ay dapat gamitin sa pamamagitan ng sugo. Ang paghagupit ng latigo at pagpapataw ng parusa ay daṇḍa; ang pagbibigay ng kaloob ay dāna; at ang matiising paghihintay sa tamang panahon ay pagtitiis ayon sa panahon.
