Ritual Procedure for the Donation of the ‘Sugar-Cow’ (Śarkarā-Dhenu)
होतोवाच तद्वच्च शर्कराधेनुं शृणु राजन् यथार्थतः । अनुलिप्ते महीपृष्ठे कृष्णाजिनकुशोत्तरे ॥ १०३-१ ॥ धेनुं शर्करया राजन् कृत्वा भारचतुष्टयम् । उत्तमा कथ्यते सद्भिश्चतुर्थांशेन वत्सकम् ॥
hotovāca tadvac ca śarkarā-dhenuṃ śṛṇu rājan yathārthataḥ | anulipte mahī-pṛṣṭhe kṛṣṇājina-kuśottare || 103-1 || dhenuṃ śarkarayā rājan kṛtvā bhāra-catuṣṭayam | uttamā kathyate sadbhiś caturthāṃśena vatsakam ||
โหตฤกล่าวว่า: “ฉันนั้นแล โอ้พระราชา จงสดับโดยถูกต้องถึงพิธี ‘ศรฺกรา-เธนุ’ คือโคที่ทำด้วยน้ำตาล เมื่อเตรียมพื้นดินให้ทาและป้ายเรียบแล้ว ปูหนังละมั่งดำและหญ้ากุศะเป็นชั้นบน จากนั้น โอ้พระราชา จงปั้นโคด้วยน้ำตาลให้มีน้ำหนักรวมสี่ภาระ; บัณฑิตผู้ประเสริฐกล่าวว่า แบบ ‘อุตตมะ’ คือมีลูกโคหนักหนึ่งในสี่ส่วน”
