hāsyaṃ cakāra daityo'tha viṣṇunā'krāṃtakaṃdharaḥ | tamāha puṇḍarīkākṣa kimetaddhāsyakāraṇam
Narrator (reporting Viṣṇu addressing the daitya)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa Kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis/assembly (typical frame)
Scene: Viṣṇu stands in a triumphant pose with one foot pressing down the demon’s neck/shoulder; the demon, instead of pleading, laughs; the Lord’s lotus-eyed face turns inquisitive, hand raised in questioning.
Even in defeat, the mind’s intention matters; the Lord draws out inner motive, opening the door for transformation.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra remains the overarching sacred frame for this dialogue and event.
No ritual is mentioned; the verse introduces a doctrinal dialogue.
