इति व्रतं महादेवि त्रेतासंध्यांशके गते । गन्धर्वस्यैवमाख्यातं श्रुतं पातकनाशनम्

ดังนี้แล โอ้มหาเทวี ครั้นส่วนหนึ่งแห่งสนธยาในยุคเตรตาได้ล่วงไปแล้ว คันธรรพ์ได้ประกาศวัตรนี้ไว้ฉันนั้น การได้สดับย่อมทำลายบาปทั้งปวง
