पुलस्त्य उवाच । पुरा वृष्टिनिरोधोऽभूद्यावद्द्वादशवत्सरान् । संशयं परमं प्राप्तः सर्वो लोकः क्षुधार्दितः
pulastya uvāca | purā vṛṣṭinirodho'bhūdyāvaddvādaśavatsarān | saṃśayaṃ paramaṃ prāptaḥ sarvo lokaḥ kṣudhārditaḥ
ปุลัสตยะกล่าวว่า: ในกาลก่อน ฝนได้ขาดหายยาวนานถึงสิบสองปี ด้วยความหิวโหยบีบคั้น โลกทั้งปวงตกอยู่ในความหวั่นไหวและภัยพิบัติอย่างยิ่ง
