Kārpaṭika (ascetic/pilgrim narrator)
Tirtha: Nāgara-kṣetra tīrtha
Type: kshetra
Listener: King (nṛpa-sattama)
Scene: The healed devotee stands radiant, skin restored; the king listens in astonishment; the sacred water glimmers as if charged with solar energy.
Tīrtha-sevā is presented as both outer and inner purification: bodily affliction and moral impurity are removed together through Dharma-aligned practice.
The same Nāgara-region tīrtha later named Viśvāmitra-jalāvaha, praised for immediate relief from disease and sin.
Performing the prescribed snāna at the stated auspicious time yields immediate vyādhi-nāśa (ending of illness) and pāpa-kṣaya (destruction of sin).
