Skanda Purana — Mahesvara Khanda, Shloka 62

नरो हि गृहिणीहीनो अर्धदेह इति स्मृतः । यथात्मना विना देहे कार्यं किंचिन्न सिध्यति

naro hi gṛhiṇīhīno ardhadeha iti smṛtaḥ | yathātmanā vinā dehe kāryaṃ kiṃcinna sidhyati

แท้จริง บุรุษผู้ไร้ภรรยา (คฤหิณี) ถูกจดจำในคัมภีร์สมฤติว่าเป็น ‘กายครึ่งหนึ่ง’ ดุจดังร่างกายที่ปราศจากอาตมันแล้ว ย่อมไม่อาจสำเร็จกิจใด ๆ ได้ ฉันใด ในความไม่ครบถ้วนนี้ หน้าที่แห่งธรรมในชีวิตก็ไม่อาจบรรลุความสมบูรณ์ฉันนั้น
