Tirtha: Asitāṅga Bhairava
Type: temple
Listener: Ṛṣis/pilgrims
Scene: Asitāṅga Bhairava stands fierce yet protective, dark-hued, with trident and skull-bowl; a devotee receives abhaya as Yama’s shadow recedes into the background.
Bhairava’s grace in Kāśī is protective and liberative—transforming the devotee’s relation to death and judgment.
The northern location of Asitāṅga Bhairava within the same Kāśī sacred circuit described in Adhyāya 18.
Darśana (seeing/visiting) of Asitāṅga Bhairava is emphasized.
