आत्मदुःखात्परं दुःखं न जानासि कुलाधमे । तेन वाक्येन घोरेण शाण्डिली विमनाभवत्
ātmaduḥkhātparaṃ duḥkhaṃ na jānāsi kulādhame | tena vākyena ghoreṇa śāṇḍilī vimanābhavat
“นอกจากทุกข์ของตนแล้ว เจ้าไม่รู้จักทุกข์ที่ยิ่งกว่าเลย โอ้ผู้เป็นมลทินแห่งตระกูล!” ด้วยถ้อยคำอันน่าสะพรึงนั้น นางศาณฑิลีจึงเศร้าหมองลง
