yatphalaṃ cottare pārtha tathā vai pūrvasāgare | dakṣiṇe paścime snātvā tatra tīrthe tu tatphalam
Mārkaṇḍeya (continuing; vocative ‘pārtha’ retained as in received text)
Tirtha: Sāṃvaura
Type: tirtha
Listener: Pārtha (addressed vocatively in the verse)
Scene: A symbolic map-like tableau: the devotee bathing at Sāṃvaura while the four directions show stylized seas and northern sacred waters, all connected by a luminous thread of merit.
A single powerful tīrtha can concentrate the merits of vast pilgrimages, making spiritual attainment accessible through localized sacred geography.
Sāṃvaura Tīrtha, whose bath is said to equal the fruits of bathing in multiple great waters across directions.
Snāna (ritual bathing) at the tīrtha, praised as yielding the same puṇya as bathing in major directional seas/sacred waters.
