रुद्र उवाच । ग्रीष्मकालो ह्यहं प्रोक्तः सर्वभूतक्षयंकरः । कर्षयामि जगत्सर्वं रुद्ररूपस्तपस्विनि

rudra uvāca | grīṣmakālo hyahaṃ proktaḥ sarvabhūtakṣayaṃkaraḥ | karṣayāmi jagatsarvaṃ rudrarūpastapasvini

พระรุทระตรัสว่า: “เราถูกกล่าวว่าเป็นฤดูครีษมะ (ฤดูร้อน) อันก่อให้เกิดความเสื่อมแก่สรรพชีวิตทั้งปวง โอ้สตรีผู้บำเพ็ญตบะ ในรูปแห่งรุทระ เราทำให้โลกทั้งสิ้นแห้งผากและดึงพลังออกไป”
