बिभेत्यल्पश्रुताद्वेदो मामयं प्रतरिष्यति । इतिहासपुराणैश्च कृतोऽयं निश्चयः पुरा

bibhetyalpaśrutādvedo māmayaṃ pratariṣyati | itihāsapurāṇaiśca kṛto'yaṃ niścayaḥ purā

พระเวทหวั่นเกรงผู้ที่ได้ยินมาเพียงน้อย คิดว่า “ผู้นี้จักเข้าใจเราผิดและล่วงเกินเรา” เพราะฉะนั้นแต่โบราณกาล จึงมีข้อสรุปมั่นคงผ่านอิติหาสะและปุราณะว่า ควรเข้าถึงพระเวทโดยอาศัยเรื่องเล่าศักดิ์สิทธิ์และจารีตธรรมเป็นกำลังหนุน
