Menā’s Counsel to Himālaya; Response to Slander of Śiva
ityuktvāśu tathā gatvā menā kopālayaṃ śucā | tyaktvā hāraṃ rudantī sā cakāra śayanaṃ bhuvi

Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Menā’s grief and her falling to the ground portray worldly attachment (pāśa) arising from fear and social expectation; the Purana contrasts this with the higher Shaiva vision where union with Shiva is auspicious and liberating.
Though not directly about Linga worship, the episode supports Saguna Shiva-bhakti: the narrative tension shows how devotees and families struggle to recognize Shiva’s supreme auspiciousness (Śiva-tattva) beyond external appearances.
A practical takeaway is to steady the mind in sorrow through japa of the Panchakshara mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and remembrance of Shiva as the compassionate Pati who frees beings from grief-bound bonds.
