मेना-हिमालयसंवादः
Menā’s Counsel to Himālaya; Response to Slander of Śiva
अलकायाश्च स्वर्गाच्च भोगवत्यास्तथा पुनः । विशेषेणामरावत्या दृश्य ते पुरमुत्तमम्
alakāyāśca svargācca bhogavatyāstathā punaḥ | viśeṣeṇāmarāvatyā dṛśya te puramuttamam
Suta Goswami (narrating the Rudrasaṃhitā account to the sages, describing the unmatched excellence of Shiva’s divine abode/city)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: The verse establishes Śiva’s realm as surpassing even divine capitals; for pilgrims it encodes the teaching that Śiva-dhāma (and Śiva-bhakti) transcends svarga-bhoga and leads beyond saṃsāra.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse elevates Shiva’s sphere above all celebrated celestial realms, teaching that even the finest heaven-like enjoyments are inferior to the grace-filled domain oriented to Shiva—where devotion leads beyond pleasure toward liberation.
By declaring Shiva’s realm supreme over Svarga, it reinforces Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga-upāsanā) as superior to merely seeking heavenly rewards; devotion to Shiva is presented as the higher aim that culminates in Shiva’s grace.
A practical takeaway is to prioritize Shiva-bhakti over desire for “svarga”: daily japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a pure, steady mind, offering worship with humility rather than seeking worldly or heavenly enjoyment.
