When both Rama and Lakshmana touched the feet of Sutikshna, the best of the sages, he lifted them up, hugged them tightly, and said affectionately:
It teaches reverence to elders and sages (guru-vandana) and the dharmic warmth with which spiritual elders bless and guide righteous travellers.
Rama and Lakshmana bow at Sūtīkṣṇa’s feet before departing; the sage responds with affectionate blessing and instruction.
Humility and respect (vinaya) in Rama and Lakshmana; compassionate guardianship in Sūtīkṣṇa.
