Description of Pilgrimage to the Sacred Fords
देवस्य दक्षिणे भागे वापी तिष्ठति शोभना । तस्यास्तथोदकं पीत्वा नावृत्तिः पुनरत्र च ॥ ५७ ॥
devasya dakṣiṇe bhāge vāpī tiṣṭhati śobhanā | tasyāstathodakaṃ pītvā nāvṛttiḥ punaratra ca || 57 ||
Narada (describing a tirtha to the Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"adbhuta","secondary_rasa":"shanta","emotional_journey":"Wonder at the sacred site’s tangible grace resolves into peace through the promise of non-return."}
It teaches a tirtha-mahatmya principle: contact with a consecrated sacred source (the vāpī near the deity) is said to grant moksha-phala—freedom from repeated return (āvṛtti) to worldly existence.
The verse frames liberation as arising from proximity to the deity and reverent participation in temple-associated acts (like taking sanctified water), which in the Purana functions as a bhakti-infused ritual of surrender and sacred remembrance.
It reflects kalpa/ritual practice: the tirtha protocol of taking sanctified water at a shrine and the directional sanctity (dakṣiṇa/right side) used in temple and pilgrimage observances.
