The Account of Hanumān
āgato hyabhiṣicyāśulaṃkeśo hi vikalpitaḥ | hatvā tu rāvaṇaṃ saṃkhye saputrāmātyabāṃdhavam || 25 ||
Narada (narrating within the Purana’s dialogue setting)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It links victory in a dharmic battle to legitimate rule: after the destruction of adharma (Rāvaṇa and his power-structure), authority is established through proper consecration (abhiṣeka), emphasizing dharma over mere conquest.
Bhakti is implicit through alignment with dharma: the devotee’s ideal is to support the restoration of righteous order and accept positions of responsibility only through sanctioned, dharmic procedures rather than personal ambition.
The verse points to abhiṣeka as a regulated rite—connected to Kalpa (ritual procedure) and associated mantras—showing that kingship is validated through śāstric ceremonial norms, not simply by force.
