FAQs

It signals that hearing the sacred histories of righteous kings like Priyavrata and their line is itself merit-giving (puṇya), and it prepares the reader for a cosmological teaching—how the lokas are arranged within the Brahmāṇḍa.

Indirectly: by praising śravaṇa (devotional hearing) of Purāṇic kathā as puṇya-producing, it supports bhakti practice where listening to dharmic narratives and cosmic order strengthens faith and God-centered living.

The verse points more to Purāṇic cosmology than a specific Vedāṅga; however, the structured ‘description of lokas’ aligns with traditional jyotiṣa-informed cosmography used in calendrical and ritual contexts.
